Laurie Veldheer

Laurie Veldheer is excited to perform at the Frauenthal Center for the Spotlight Series! A Grand Rapids, MI native, Laurie grew up performing at local theaters such as the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, Circle Theatre Grand Rapids, Actors’ Theatre, Jewish Theatre, Ladies Literary Club, and Hope Summer Repertory Theatre. She graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School and holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Penn State University.
Laurie’s Broadway credits include understudying roles in “Plaza Suite” (Jean McCormack/Mimsy), starring as Sophie Sheridan in “Mamma Mia!,” and originating roles in “Newsies” (Hannah/Smalls, u/s Katherine Plummer). Her national tour credits feature Cinderella/Granny in Fiasco Theater’s “Into The Woods” and Brenda in “Hairspray.”
Regionally, Laurie has wowed audiences with performances such as Maria in “The Sound Of Music” (Studio Tenn), Millie Dillmount in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” (Paper Mill Playhouse, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, and PCLO), Belle in “Beauty and the Beast” (La Mirada), Katherine in “Newsies” (Broadway at Music Circus), Anne Egerman in “A Little Night Music” (A.C.T.), and Shelby in “Steel Magnolias” (Cape Playhouse).
On screen, Laurie has appeared in “Law and Order” (NBC), “Little America” (Apple TV), and the short film “Double Exposure.” She is represented by DGRW and Image Talent.
Laurie extends endless thanks to God, her family, and friends for their unwavering support, and special thanks to Eric Vaughn Messing for the opportunity to return home and share this night of theatre.
